Running on Empty

In the artist’s words: This was one of the first tracks that me and Monty recorded together in his parent’s basement. We stayed up all night, it was so much fun, we really got to this dreamy sound I’d never really produced for my own songs before, we took a lot of inspiration from Cyndi Lauper and Prince. I made this video by myself with no money because it was the only option if I wanted a video for this single. I find myself very inspired by limitations and decided to see what I could make just using what I had. I used to stay up all night making videos when I was a teenager and I felt very free, this experience really reminded me of that. I decided that the treatment for the video should be “cam girl in dreamland,” I don’t think I would’ve felt that audacious if someone else was making this video with me. This song was written about a time and a relationship where I felt very held down and trapped. The video makes it all feel full circle.
