“Subterranean” is an aural showcase of the intuition and trust that bonds Ariane and Christophe, the two minds behind Lesser Evil. While each of the album’s 10 tracks was conceived and executed using multiple methods and locations, they are all grounded in the vision shared between the two musicians. Experimenting with any tool fit for the job, whether acoustic or electronic instrumentation, cheap or expensive synthesizer, multi-tracked vocals or spontaneous one-takes, the end goal is always to bring each song to full fruition. The songs that make up Subterranean are not only the product of hours upon hours of writing, tracking, and discussing, but also undoing, restarting, and scrapping days of work, all for the greater good of Lesser Evil.
